MIHAELA STANCIU

Born in Râmnicu Vâlcea, Romania, she stud - ied canto at the National Music University in Bucharest. She was a Laureate of the Singing Competitions - " Belvedere " , Vienna (1993) and Budapest (1997). Between 1982 - 1995 she was a member of the Choir of the National Opera in Bucharest. She then became a soloist and appeared in over 200 performances in which she sang leading roles meant for a lyric soprano. Her repertoire includes operas by Mozart, Verdi, Bizet, Donizetti, Humperdinck, Offenbach, Cimarosa, Strauss, Puccini, as well as vocal - symphonic works in which she performed together with the Bucharest Philharmonic or the National Radio Orchestra (Haydn, Mozart, Schubert, Mendelssohn - Bartholdy, Berlioz, Brahms, Mahler, Fauré, Poulenc, Strauss, Tippet, Orff, Britten, Villa - Lobos). She has participated in tours, together with the National Opera in Bucharest in the United Kingdom, The Netherlands and Japan.
