MORGENSTERN
Born
in Bucharest, Romania, she graduated from the Film and Theatre Academy
in Bucharest. She made her debut at the Piatra Neamt Theatre (1985 - 1988).
She then became a member of the Jewish State Theatre (1988 - 1990). Between
1990 - 1998 she was a member of the National Theatre in Bucharest, and
from 1998 she is an actress with the Bulandra Theatre in Bucharest. She
is a member of UNITER and UCIN, a member in the jury decid - ing the National
Award for Excellency in Culture in Romania, and also in juries in the
Geneva Festival (1995), Salonic (1996), Angers (1998), Monte Carlo (2000).
Since 2004 she has been an Honorary Member of the National Theatre in
Bucharest. She has performed major parts in plays by Shakespeare, Cehov,
Strindberg, Claudel - Honegger, Wilde, Ibsen, Kreisler, Llorca, B. Johnson,
Wasserman, Dumas, Wesker, Horovitz, H. Mann, Gozzi, Gogol, Alecsandri,
Blaga, Vi sniec, Camil Petrescu, C. Th. Popescu, directed by Andrei Serban,
J. L. Vicard, Olimpia Arghir, Mihai Manolescu, Nae Caranfil, Ion Lucian,
Ca ta lina Buzoianu, Andreea Vulpe, Al. Dabija, Felix Alexa, Victor Ion
Frunza , Razvan Mazilu, Grigore Gonta, Horea Popescu, Serghei Cercaski
etc. She has personally directed Chirita in voiaj after Alecsandri
at the " Maria Filotti " Theater in Braaila. She collaborated
with TV theatre as well as Radio theatre programmes. She made tours in
Switzerland, The Netherlands, Germany, Greece, Austria, Russia, France,
The UK, Iceland, Portugal, Belgium. She had major parts in over 20 Romanian
films. Her career turned triumphant with the part Virgin Mary in Mel Gibson
's movie:The Passion of the Christ (2002). Her spectacular
career was awarded the National «L. S. Bulandra »Prize for
Best Actress - 1990, 1993, the UNITER Prize for Best Female Part - 1990
and for Lola Blau - 1995, " Flaca ra " Magazine Award, Radio
France 's " Teatre vivant " Award - 1993 for best Performance
in French, " Irina Ra chiteanu Sirianu " Prize in 1997, UCIN
Award, " Les stars de demain " Award - Geneva 1992 for Best
Actress, as well as Critics Award and Felix Prize etc.
