ILINCA DUMITRESCU

Born in Bucharest, Romania, in a family of artists, she began studying piano at the age of 5, having Cella Delavrancea and Mihail Jora (theoretical subjects)as professors, among others;she graduated from the " P. I. Ceaikovski " Moscow Conservatoire where she studied with Stanislav Neuhaus and Iakov Flier. She had concerts in important cultural centers in all over Europe, Asia, USA, Latin America, in prestigious concert halls, being also invited to famous festivals such as " George Enescu " - Bucharest, " The New Music Week " - Bucharest, in Ankara, Bratislava, Prague and South Bohemia (under the patronage of Yehudi Menuhin), " Celebrating George Enescu " - Iowa, USA, " Cervantino " - Mexico etc. Her extremely vast repertoire includes opuses from various ages and styles - concerts with orchestra (famous classic and romantic works), solo recitals (among which author programmes:Bach, Scarlatti, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Schumann, Schubert), chamber music, lieds (with artists such as Valentin Teodorian, Georgeta Stoleriu, Sanda Sandru). She was especially preoccupied with the promotion of classical and con - temporary Romanian music, but also with the 20 th century uni - versal creation. She performed, in first audition, both parts espe - cially dedicated to her and works composed by foreign authors. She was a member and president in the jury of international com - petitions, holding at the same time piano art classes in the Czech Republic (within the South Bohemian Festival), USA (Iowa), Brazil (Brasilia), India (Bombay), China (Nanjing), Vietnam (Hanoi), Japan (Tokyo). She made several recordings, the record " 14 Sonatas by D. Scarlatti " being selected by the jury " International Record Critics Award " - New York 1986, among the best albums of the year. Her intense activity was awarded prizes by ATM (for the cycle of recitals " Contemporary decades " - 1984), the Bolivian Ministry of Culture and Education (" Famous guest of the Bolivian culture " - 1998), the magazine Musical events - 2000, Romanian Cultural Institute - 2003. Her interest in the area of musicology materialised in the volume entitled Mihail Jora , being awarded the prize of the Union of Interpreters, Choreographers and Musical Critics - 1991, then the Romanian Academy Prize - 1994. In 2004 she was grant - ed the Cultural Merit Order. She is an honorary member of the International Contemporary Music Society, of the Academic Senate with the Accademia Internazionale d'Arte Moderna - Rome, of the French Music Society " George Enescu " - Paris, mem - ber of the board of the USA Enescu Society. Starting with 1994 she is the manager of the " George Enescu " National Museum.
