FLORINA CERCEL

Born in Piatra Neamt, Romania, she graduated from the Film and Theatre Academy in Bucharest - class of profes - sors Jules Cazaban, Cornel Todea, Victor Moldovan. She made her debut at the Dramatic Theatre in Galati where she worked between 1964 - 1965. Afterwards she became an actress of the National Theatre in Timi soara (1965 - 1973). In 1973 she became a member of the National Theatre in Bucharest. During her 38 - year artistic activity she performed in over 50 parts, in plays by Euripide, Shakespeare, Shaw, Sardou, Goldoni, Ibsen, Gogol, Gorki, Lorca, Hasek, Alecsandri, Caragiale, Baranga, D. R. Popescu, Camil Petrescu, Mu satescu, Kiritescu, Everac, M. Preda, G. M. Zamfirescu etc. , directed by maestros such as Marieta Sadova, Radu Beligan, Horea Popescu, Dem. Radulescu, Al. Toscani, Mihai Berechet, Ion Cojar, Sanda Manu, Andrei Serban, Anca Ovanez, Felix Alexa, Mihai Ma niutiu, Victor Frunza etc. Her cinematography career is also impressive. She made a large number of moving pictures between 1970 - 1993, directed - among others - by Mircea Moldovan, Dan Pita, Mircea Veroiu, Andrei Blaier, Dinu Cocea, Mircea Dra gan, Francisc Munteanu. She has also performed main parts in Romanian TV production of plays by Shakespeare, T. Williams, Gorki, C. Petrescu, M. Stefanescu, Lovinescu.
She was invited to be a presenter of a TV programme Album duminical (1974 - 1977)and also to appear in various poem recitals. At the national radio station she was invited to approach over 20 parts, as part of the special cycle of programmes " Teatru la microfon " , in plays directed by Paul Stratulat, Constantin Moruzan, Cristian Munteanu, Dan Puican etc. Since 2002 she has been a Honorary Member of the National Theatre in Bucharest. She received many awards for her activity: UNITER Prize - 1990 as well as Chevalier of the " Faithful Service " National Order in 2002, the Prize of the Ministry of Culture 2003.
