DAN PURIC

Born in Bucharest, Romania, he graduated from the Film and Theatre Academy in Bucharest, becoming an actor at the Theatre in Boto sani (1983 - 1988 ). After that he became an actor at the National Theatre in Bucharest. His repertoire includes major parts in plays by Aristofan, Shakespeare, Goldoni, Chase, Harwood, Marivaux, Gogol, Caragiale, Blaga, Urmuz, Eftimiu, C. Th. Popescu, directed by Laurian Oniga, Andrei Serban, Niky Wolcz, Ca ta lina Buzoianu, Tudor Ma ra scu, Radu Beligan, Traian Ailenei, Horea Popescu, Mihai Manolescu, Alexandru Tocilescu, Vlad Mugur, Grigore Gonta, Felix Alexa, Serghei Cerkaski. He has also directed movies and adverts for television in Lausanne - Switzerland. His attraction towards pantomime was materialised in shows under his own direction, presented in theatres in Boto sani, Bucharest, European Cultural Centre. They have been widely applauded in Vienna, Leipzig, Jena, Oldenburg, Thun, St. Croix, Novi Sad, Venice, Budapest, Sofia, Lisbon, Phenian, New York, Chicago, Toronto, Montreal. He had the major part in a Romanian - Serbian production directed by Maria Marek. Since 2001 he has been a Honorary Member of the National Theatre in Bucharest. He has been awarded several times:First Prize at the Film Festival - Costinesti (1987) for a " one - man pantomime show " , Golden Arena Award at the Pola International Film Festival, Special Prize at the Pantomime Festival - St. Croix, 1996 Prize at the Chicago Artists International Program, " Constantin Ta nase " Award at the Humour Festival, International Theatre Critique 's Association Award for Theatre and Pantomime - Theatre Foundation XXI (1997), UNITER Prize (1999) Non-Verbal Theatre Performance Award, Big Prize of the Anastasia Foundation (2002), UNESCO Romanian National Prize for Cultural Development (2003).
