COSTEL CONSTANTIN
Born
in Galati, Romania, he graduated from the Bucharest Cinematography and
Theatre Art Institute. He made his debut as an actor at the National Theatre
in Iasi, where he worked between 1965 - 1969, performing main parts in
plays by Sofocles, Anouilh, T. Williams, Brecht, M. Sorescu, C. Teodorescu
directed by Sorana Coroama , Crin Teodorescu, Aurel Manea, Waimer and
Benevitz. In 1969 he became an actor with the National Theatre in Bucharest.
His repertoire here includes main parts in plays by Shakespeare, Ostrovski,
Gogol, Vallejo, Wasserman, Caragiale, P. Anghel, D. Sârbu, V. Stoenescu,
C. Munteanu, P. Parda u, D. R. Popescu, M. Beligan, D. Sa raru etc. ,
directed by George Teodorescu, Radu Penciulescu, Ion Cojar, Michel Fagadau,
Letitia Popa, Horea Popescu, Sanda Manu, Cristian Munteanu, Radu Beligan,
Emil Mandric, George Motoi, Andrei Serban, Felix Alexa, Alexa Visarion,
Grigore Gonta and oth - ers. Some of his theatrical performance were awarded
the First Prize for Male Performance (1970), The " Theatre "
magazine Award for Best Male Performance (1983), The Award for Best Theatre
Show - Romanian Play, at the " I. L. Caragiale " Festival (1990),
as well as Chevalier of the " Faithful Service " National Order
(2002 ), etc.
