CHAMBER
CHOIR "PRELUDIU "
Founded
by selected members of the Bucharest University Choir under the direction
of conductor Voicu Ena chescu. Other members were selected from students
of the National Music University. Its debut concert was in 1972 and it
was followed by an intense activity both in Romania and abroad (22 tours
in 14 countries). Awarded at festivals in Pardubice, Nitra, Barcelona,
Celje. It has a vast repertoire of over 300 preclassic, classic or romantic
pieces, as well as Christmas carols, religi ous music, international and
Romanian scores (part of which are dedi - cated pieces)and vocal - symphonic
works. This repertoire was drawn upon in over 1. 200 à capella
concerts and in cooperation with renowed performers such as Nicolae Herlea,
Valentin Teodorian, Pompeiu Ha ra steanu, Florin Diaconescu, Lucian Marinescu,
Eleonora Ena chescu, Florin Georgescu, with pianist Ovidiu Cucu and in
several orchestra - accompanied concerts. From 1990, the choir has taken
part in a variety of musical events i n Romania and in France, Holland,
Germany. From 1991 it acquired the status of professional choir. It has
over 250 radio and television recordings as well as several disks with
"Electrecord". The choir performed at the UN headquarters in
New York (1977), at the Biennial Festival of Contemporary Music in Berlin
as part of festivi - ties to mark 750 years of existence of the city (1987),
at the World Youth Festival in Moscow (1985), at EXPO '92 - Sevilla, at
the World Exhibition - Hannover (2000), at the Enescu Festival - Bucharest
(2001), at the Choir Festival in Beijing (2002), where it was awarded
the First Prize and Gold Medal, etc. In 1995 it received the UICCMR Award
"for performing excellence at the Enescu Festival - Edition XIII".
VOICU ENACHESCU - born in Branesti, Romania, he began
studying violin, sang in the Children Radio Chorus, and graduated the
National Music University of Bucharest. He becomes assistant of the conductor
Ion Vanica in the CFR Chorus, secondary conductor of the University Chorus
(1965 - 1972), when he forms his own ensemble. He obtains a scholarship
at Antibes - France (1974). In 1991 he becomes director of the Cultural
Centre "Tinerimea Româna ". He cooperates with the philharmonic
choruses of Bucharest, Iasi, Craiova etc. On tours he cooperates with
groups from France or the Netherlands. Starting with 1998 he is the presi
- dent of the National Choral Association of Romania and from 1999 he
is a member of the Board of Directors of the Romanian Radio Broadcasting
Society. He participated in international juries.
