THE CHILDREN CHORUS OF THE ROMANIAN RADIO SOCIETY

Founded in 1945, shortly achieved recognition through à cappella concerts, and also through collaboration in vocal - symphonic works, radio recordings, moving pictures etc. Throughout the time, it was conducted by Ion Vanica and Elena Vicica , and between 1981 - 2003, by Eugenia Va ca rescu. Its vast repertoire includes pieces from the universal creation (Renaissance, preclassical, classical, romantic, modern and contemporary), but also from the Romanian one. At present, it has 50 members with ages from 8 to18 years. Since its formation, the chorus participated in numerous tours abroad (over 50 in more than 20 states), being also invited to festivals, won prestigious choral competitions, being awarded significant titles and medals. In 1995 it celebrated half of cen - tury of existence and received the UCM prize.


At present, the chorus conductor is VOICU POPESCU, who has been preparing the concerts together with Eugenia Va ca rescu since 1988. Graduate of the National Music University of Bucharest, member of the " Madrigal " Chorus, he collaborated in 2000 with the Chorus of the Romanian Radio Society, founded the "Sound" choir and the "Sound" Cultural Foundation, and starting with 2001 he has been organizing in Sinaia an annual symposium dedicated to choral music, while also editing a relevant magazine. He held master courses in Torino, is a member of the board of the International Federation of Choral Music and a member of the ANCR board. Together with the Children Chorus of the Romanian Radio Society and with the "Sound" chorus he was awarded medals and prizes, being also included in Who's Who published by ABI.
